One of the most frustrating things over the past few months has been the combination of the poor messaging by Democrats about what the differences are between them and the Republican party with the inept media that we have in this country.
I am really discouraged by how effectively the Republicans maneuver these facts into political viability. If Obama really feels that "sunlight is the best disinfectant" then he needs to get his messaging team to plug in the sun. In the mean time, we need to help him.
Calchala's diary as well as other political sites (TPM, Huffpost, the Hill) are reporting that Sen. Shelby of Alabama is blocking ALL nominees until he gets his cash from the Feds.
None of the major news sites I looked at this am had the story. So we need to help...let's start by helping CNN "keep 'em honest" see below for instructions.
CNN currently has lead stories on everything from UFOs to death of a soap star 2 days ago. Please help their news team actually report news: Go to the news tip link and tell them to report on the Sen Shelby needs his pork story. It's easy. Here is the link:

Similarly, on the ABC site, they have some stuff about the Edwards sex tape and wondering if Michelle said the wrong thing about childhood obesity, BUT NOTHING about Sen. Shelby holding up our government for some pork. So let's help them find some real news:

No surprise, but Politico seems to have missed the beat also. Let's help them report on this IMPORTANT political issue that is debilitating our government:

On MSNBC...had to click around and find mention of this in the middle of a Firstread blog bost...not on the front page where it belongs. Here is a link to a page with other links to the multiple shows on MSNBC who might like to report on this. I recommend clicking on the directly link to the Nightly news email. Brian Williams might like something newsworthy for this evening.

Sadly, I have to stop trying to do the media's job and actually go do my own job. Please feel free to add links.
(I didn't even bother with Fox.)
